Ryan Beatty is an American singer-songwriter currently living in L.A. and musically moving between folk, indie pop, alternative and alternative soul. His debut EP "Because Of You" (#7 on the US album charts) was released in 2012, and after a five-year hiatus he celebrated his comeback in 2017 as part of the rap collective BROCKHAMPTON. Now the musician has released his third album "Calico" in April 2023.
Having most recently contributed to Tyler, The Creator's Grammy-winning album "Igor" and "Music Inspired by Illumination & Dr. Seuss' The Grinch," among others, and having co-written songs for Grammy record-holder Beyoncé last year, Ryan Beatty marks a new era for the 27-year-old with his album. The work combines Ryan's lyrical revelations with a luminous, detailed sound. Beatty co-produced the album with Ethan Gruska.
The recordings took place at the historic L.A. Spot Valentine Recording Studios and Rick Rubin's Shangri-La, with a number of of musicians assisting them, including guitarist Dylan Day (Jenny Lewis, Laura Veirs), drummer Matt Chamberlain (Lorde, Brandi Carlile), saxophonist Sam Gendel (Sylvan Esso, Perfume Genius), string arranger Rob Moose (FKA twigs, Laura Marling) and Justin Vernon of Bon Iver, who contributed additional production and instrumentation.
