Alewya

Alewya is a child of many worlds: born to an Ethiopian mother and Egyptian father and raised in West London. A versatile artist - singer, musician, painter, sculptor - Alewya also draws from many worlds. Alewya considers herself a late bloomer - she worked in fashion as a teenager and began writing of music in her twenties - but "I'm ahead of the game in the sense that I've had experiences that leave me without illusions, it's harder to seduce me with the usual," she says. "I've seen behind the curtain, and that allows me to adjust to what I need to do and who I need to do it with. It may all be gone tomorrow, but I know the creativity is in my mind. It can't be taken away from me." Others recognized Alewya's creative spirit immediately. In 2019, she met British jungle legend Shy FX at a London club, who, after seeing her perform, became her manager and had her perform on his stage at the iconic Notting Hill Carnival. Together with Shy FX and co-producers Dean Barrett, Craig Dodds and The Busy Twist, Alewya wrote and produced her debut EP "Panther In Mode," led of by the singles "Sweating" and "Play," which have over 4 million streams on Spotify. The EP was released in November 2021 on Because London Records. In September 2022, Alewya released their latest single "Let Go" on Because London Music. Co-produced of Alewya and Dean Barrett, "Let Go" leans more heavily on the raw melody, punchy drum programming and grunge attitude of "Jagna"; Alewya's quest for the divine feels more powerful and timely than ever. On February 23, 2023 Alewya will give an exclusive concert in Berlin .
