The Smashing Pumpkins

Founded in Chicago in 1988, The Smashing Pumpkins quickly became icons of alternative music and culture. They are now considered one of the most influential bands ever. Over the course of their career, they have sold over 30 million records worldwide, won two GRAMMY® Awards, seven MTV VMAs and an American Music Award. Their debut album Gish (1991), the quadruple platinum Siamese Dream (1993), the diamond album Mellon Collie and the Infinite Sadness (1995), the platinum Adore (1998) and Machina/The Machines of God (2000), which was certified gold in several countries, are among the classics of music history. Rolling Stone named both Siamese Dream and Mellon Collie and the Infinite Sadness in its list of the "500 Greatest Albums of All Time".Alternative music and culture would be hard to imagine without the band's iconography. Just think of the idyllic artwork of Siamese Dream, the black Zero shirt, the blissful laissez-faire vibe of the music video for "1979", the gothic metamorphosis of "Ava Adore" or the multi-layered live shows that still take place in front of sold-out houses around the world today.2018 The Smashing Pumpkins unveiled SHINY AND OH SO BRIGHT, VOL. 1 / LP: NO PAST. NO FUTURE. NO SUN. and embarked on the immensely successful Shine and Oh So Bright arena tour. Building on this momentum, the eleventh album CYR was released. The double album marked a further step in the band's evolution. ATUM (2023) followed as a sequel to Mellon Collie and the Infinite Sadness (1995) and Machina/Machine of God (2000). Immediately following this, The Smashing Pumpkins began work on Aghori Mhori Mei, on which original members Billy Corgan, Jimmy Chamberlin and James Iha harked back to their early 90s canon, where guitars, bass, drums and piercing vocals reigned supreme.
