The US punk rockers of GREEN DAY will be celebrating two anniversaries next year: Their timelessly perfect album Dookie, which is still one of the most important punk releases of all time, will be celebrating its 30th birthday, while their no less successful milestone American Idiot will be 20 years old. Reason enough to go on a world tour, which in June 2024 will take them not only to exclusive festival appearances at Rock am Ring and Rock im Park , but also to headline open-airShows at Berlin's Waldbühne and Hamburg's Trabrennbahn Bahrenfeld.
GREEN DAY was formed in California in 1986 and is one of the best-selling bands of all time, with more than 75 million records sold worldwide and10 billion cumulative audio/video streams. The five-time Grammy Award-winning Rock and Roll Hall of Fame members released their breakout album Dookie in 1994, which sold over ten million copies and achieved ten-time Platinum Diamond status. Subsequently, the album has been credited with popularizing and revitalizing punk rock. In 2004, the rock opera American Idiot was released, selling more than eight million copies in the U.S. alone and taking home theGrammy Award for Best Rock Album. GREEN DAY will present both albums in full length on their "The Saviors Tour - Celebrating 30 Years of Dookie & 20 Years ofAmerican Idiot".
Along with the release of their newSingle "The American Dream Is Killing Me," the band announced the release of their highly anticipated 14th studio album Saviors which will be released on January 19.
