For Sid Sriram, the Carnatic music of South India contains the "universal truth". The 32-year-old singer/songwriter has spent years conveying this truth to audiences in India and around the world; today he is one of the most popular Bollywood singers of the last decade. On his new English-language album "Sidharth", however, he leaves the musical lineage of his family's home country, where he has now lived since 2015, and draws on the styles of R&B, indie rock and American pop that he grew up with as an immigrant child in Fremont, California, in the 1990s and 2000s. In the summer of 2021, he took a leap of faith and hopped on a plane to Minneapolis to work with producer Ryan Olson (Poliça, Gayngs, Bon Iver), whom he had previously only met on Instagram. The project was recorded in an intense week in the studio, with most of the songs recorded live of by a small team of of Olson's allies, including Justin Vernon of Bon Iver, who has long been an inspiration to Sid. Sid's sincerity and passion are reflected in his recordings, offering a unique, captivating live performance fit for the world stage. The SIDHARTH Tour is a hybridist set, "This tour will bring to life the full spectrum of who Sid Sriram is. Each Show will bring together the "Sidharth" album, his Carnatic core and the South Indian film songs that brought him to the world stage in an aesthetically consistent presentation."
The upcoming SIDHARTH tour show will consist primarily of songs from his English album "Sidharth", with movements into a couple of Sid Sriram's Indian Film songs.
