Ghanaian-Australian rapper and singer Genesis Owusu has achieved considerable success as an outsider. His debut album won the most important music award in Australia in three categories: 'Album of the Year', 'Best Hip Hop Release' and 'Best Independent Release'.
In it, he processes the intricacies and complexities of adolescence as a black male growing up in a white society. The concept of this powerful debut is based on Owusu personal story of emigrating with his family as a two-year-old child of Ghana.
The album was well received worldwide and the first own Shows and festival appearances were not long in coming. Among them were concerts at Lollapalooza Chicago, Austin City Limits or Primavera Sounds in Barcelona.
2023 started with two sold-out concerts at the Sydney Opera House together with the Red Bull Symphonic. In the summer, two years after his debut, his next album "STRUGGLER" will be released.
