Having a hit song is one thing, but backing up that success is something else entirely. Tales of bands eaten up and spat out by the music industry after failing to build on early promise are commonplace. It's that fear of failure and not living up to the hype that can crush artists and stifle their creativity before they've had the chance to blossom.

But that's different for Spiritbox, a band who amassed 66 million streams before they dropped their debut album 'Eternal Blue' in 2021. It topped the rock charts at #1 in the United States and Canada, broke into the top 10 in Australia and the top 20 in the U.K. and Germany, and peaked at #13 on the Billboard 200. More recently, during the same week in November of 2023, Spiritbox released an official Rock collaboration with Megan thee Stallion for her song 'Cobra' and was nominated for a Grammy for Best Metal Performance with their smash song 'Jaded.' But the connection the songs have made with so many, rather than Spiritbox's myriad achievements, fills Courtney with the most incredible pride.

Spiritbox was formed in 2017 by husband and wife Courtney LaPlante and Mike Stringer in Victoria on the craggy southern end of Vancouver Island. Later, it solidified its lineup by adding Bassist Josh Gilbert and Drummer Zev Rose. The band's name holds a deeper meaning. Named after a device that some believe is capable of communicating with the dead, there's a hint of the paranormal that runs through all they do. But beyond their celestial stylings, this is a group of artists who are very much alive, brimming with creativity and creating something truly remarkable with their music.
